USO Hawaii and Delta Air Lines partnered to provide a little touch of home to the crew of the USS Port Royal. As a way to show their appreciation of the men and women who serve, 30 Delta Air Lines employees, led by Willard Oshiro and Heidi Michalski volunteered their day to host a first-ever Burrito Bar Mobile Meal on the pier. Over 370 Sailors enjoyed an afternoon of music, games, and entertainment along with a mouthwatering burrito bar. Delta Air Lines pulled out all the stops and grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp while Sailors made the tough decision of which burrito toppings to add.
This event came at a perfect time as the ship’s galley was closed for over 500 days for renovations. USO Hawaii’s mission is to connect service members to family, home and country, and this meal provided service members with a taste of home and connected our community partner directly with the military they support. A big mahalo to our sponsor, Delta Air Lines for the first of many to come “Your USO Mobile Meal” events!
