USO Hawaii Celebrates Month of the Military Child!
Uncle Ron with our sponsor Geico reads a book from our Bob Hope Legacy Reading Program Library in support of Month of the Military Child.
Military children receive a book and bunny in honor of Month of the Military Child!
Each child received a plush bunny or bear kit, complete with a heart that can record a message from their parent in uniform. Thank you to our tiniest members of the military community for letting us show our appreciation for your service too.
Our favorite little heroes joined us for Books, Bears, and Brunch to celebrate the Month of the Military Child and heard some of our favorites including “Goodnight Hawaii” and “I Love You So...” read by our friends at GEICO Military.
USO Hawaii celebrated Month of the Military Child; a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with our very own time-honored tradition, ‘Books, Bunnies & Brunch events held at USO Schofield Barracks and USO Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. For more than six decades - from World War II through Vietnam to the Gulf War – Bob Hope traveled the world, visiting remote outposts and isolated battleships to put on USO shows to support our nation’s service members and their families.
The USO Reading Program focuses on:
-Bringing story time on demand around the globe
-Helping military kids stay connected through reading
-Supporting local reading programs in many USO locations around the world.
Our friends from GEICO read spring-time books from our USO Reading Program library, while guest enjoyed brunch. Each child received a plush bunny or bear kit, complete with a heart that can record a message from their parent in uniform. Thank you to our tiniest members of the military community for letting us show our appreciation for your service too. No matter where service may take our nation’s military families, the USO Reading Program is dedicated to helping bridge that distance.
