Recently, USO Hawaii hosted a fun “Coffee Connection” event at the USO Fort Shafter Center. The theme was “Brush and Brew,” where military spouses got to enjoy coffee while engaging in freestyle painting. Everyone got to show their creative side by painting whatever they wanted. The spouses made beautiful artwork! While the paintings were nice, the most important part was the spouses spending quality time together, meeting new friends, and chatting. Some spouses signed up together so they could catch up and paint side-by-side. A delicious spread of charcuterie, cookies, and freshly brewed coffee was served, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the event.

The Coffee Connection program started in 2016 with the goal of connecting and empowering military spouses through casual coffee meetups in their local communities. While the basic idea is grabbing coffee together, each location adds different activities like crafting or games to make it engaging. The core purpose is to provide a relaxing space for spouses to socialize. In Hawaii, the “Coffee Connection” events are scheduled every three months, offering a regular opportunity for military spouses to come together, recharge, and build a supportive network.

Stay tuned to our social media channels for updates on the next “Coffee Connection” event, and don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to connect, create, and embrace the vibrant military spouse community.
