USO Special Delivery Baby Shower - May 11th, 2024

On May 11th, 2024, USO Hawaii hosted a heartwarming “Special Delivery” baby shower for expectant and new moms in the military community. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by those in service or as spouses of those who serve, the USO has been regularly hosting these events to provide a traditional baby shower experience even when far from family and friends. This event not only celebrated motherhood but also aimed to foster new connections and support systems among attendees.

The event kicked off with welcoming remarks from the USO Program Manager, setting a warm and friendly tone. This was followed by a series of engaging activities led by the team from the Marine Corps Family Advocacy Program, ensuring that the attendees had plenty of fun and laughter.

One of the highlights of the event was a Q&A session with a panel of doctors and nurse practitioner. They addressed common questions about pregnancy and newborn care, providing invaluable insights and support to the moms-to-be.

Guests also enjoyed a delightful array of refreshments, featuring both indulgent treats and healthy fruit cups, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences. Throughout the event, excitement was kept high with raffle drawings, offering prizes ranging from diaper bags to pack-and-plays.

The success of the event was made possible by the generous support of several companies and professional individuals (doctors and a nurse practitioner), as well as the Marine Corps Community Services - Family Advocacy Program, all of whom came together to show their appreciation for the military community. The dedication of volunteers from the USO and the National Guard was also crucial, ensuring everything ran smoothly and everyone had a great time.
