A successful Q&A MVP event with Danny Trejo!
Fort Shafter USO Center was honored to host the famous (some would say infamous) actor Danny Trejo for a live on-line Question and Answer session! This exciting event was held shortly after the weekly Wednesday “Lunch on the Lanai”. Promoted as “Come for the Lunch, stay for the Trejo”, more than 23 Soldiers and family members attended the 11 October “MVP” Event. What is more, three Soldiers were able to ask Danny questions. Danny was very engaging and responded frankly and openly to questions about his tumultuous past and transition to a career as an actor.
Some of the questions asked Danny were light-hearted, such as “what is your favorite food at your donut or taco stands?” to which Danny replied “TACOS! Nothing beats a good taco!”. Other questions were more serious, asking about his journey to sobriety amid the numerous distractions and temptations. “I go to my meetings every day” Danny replied, emphasizing the support he relies on to overcome a lifetime of drug and alcohol abuse.
The event was very well-received, with the attendees remarking how engaging Danny was, and the enthusiastic support he had for the Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines defending our nation. Fort Shafter USO Center looks forward to many more events such as this!
