Volunteer of the Quarter for 2022 - Manuela Gonzalez

Congratulations to Manuela Gonzalez! We are pleased to announce Manuela as the USO Hawaii Volunteer of the Quarter! We are proud of her commitment and dedication to the USO. Manuela has been a USO Schofield volunteer for seven months. During her time, she dedicated more than 200 volunteer hours demonstrating leadership, passion for helping others, and initiative to ensure the USO center is set up for success

Manuela brings the spirit of aloha and welcomes our active-duty service members and military families with a warm smile. She is known among our regular patrons for her delicious peanut butter & jelly sandwiches as well as her cheerful personality. Our regular patrons appreciate her ability to remember their favorite snacks and the hospitality she provides. She is also a problem solver, providing patrons alternatives or recommendations when they are looking for support such as printing services and places to dine.

Manuela is a role model who demonstrates strong leadership qualities. She takes an active role in coordinating USO Schofield volunteers for morning, lunch, and afternoon shifts. Throughout the summer, she performed shadow shifts for five new volunteers who recently joined the USO. Manuela was trained in USO’s Standard of Operations and Procedures and demonstrates her leadership qualities by passing on this knowledge to other volunteers.

Manuela sets a high standard for care and service. She takes initiative and pays attention to details, as demonstrated by the cleanliness and organization maintained in the center, and the beautifully presented breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. Manuela’s dedication to serving those who serve is inspiring.  Her commitment to her work is admirable and we appreciate all she does for our military community. Thank you Manuela!
