For 80 years, the USO has been one of the nation’s leading organizations to serve the men and women in the U.S. military and their families throughout their time in uniform. The USO is always by their side from the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities.
USO Hawaii volunteers help make this happen. On July 24, 2021, USO Hawaii staff held the Annual Volunteer Appreciate Event to honor the service and commitment of USO Hawaii volunteers. Many of the volunteers stated their excitement for the event being held in person and clapping and cheering for their fellow volunteers.
This was our first in-person volunteer appreciation event since 2019. In 2020 we had a grab n go event in the Area Office Parking lot for the volunteers willing to serve the military during a pandemic. At this year’s event, we appreciated those volunteers, plus the new and returning volunteers. It was also an opportunity for everyone to reconnect and make new connections.
USO Hawaii presented the volunteers with their awards (volunteers received their hard earned presidential awards, hour awards, and milestone awards), the new volunteer shirt, and a tasty grab n go box lunch. The volunteers felt truly appreciated. USO Hawaii plans to continue this type of appreciation in 2022.
